About the Fest
Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology always strives to be a trendsetter for innovation and distinctiveness. Sathyabama has fostered startup culture among students and faculty by building an innovation ecosystem. The students with innovative ideas are mentored and supported financially to build their own startups.
This year, Sathyabama announced the grand STARTUP FEST 2024 to encourage entrepreneurship. The Grand Startup Fest is an annual event designed to inspire and empower students to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams. We believe that providing a platform for students to connect with industry leaders and successful entrepreneurs is key to fostering a vibrant startup culture.
The fest spanned two days (29th and 30th of August 2024) and featured activities from startup bootcamps, fireside chats, to investment pitching — encouraging students to take the first steps towards entrepreneurship.
Prizes & Opportunities
The Startup Fest 2024 was more than just a competition — it was a launchpad for dreams. Winners didn’t just walk away with trophies; they earned life-changing opportunities. From hefty cash prizes to fully sponsored office spaces, the rewards were designed to help startups hit the ground running. Selected teams gained direct access to industry-leading mentors, exclusive networking with angel investors, and priority consideration for seed funding. Beyond the fest, the Top 10 startups will continue to receive long-term institutional support, guidance, and visibility in national-level entrepreneurship programs. This was not just recognition — it was the first big step toward building tomorrow’s market leaders.
Levels of Scrutiny
Registrations started in June 2024, receiving nearly 1000 entries from students and teams. The evaluation process was as follows:
- Level 1: 673 ideas shortlisted.
- Level 2: 267 ideas selected; intensive 2-day bootcamp by NEN Wadhwani Foundation experts.
- Level 3: 53 market-viable ideas chosen.
- Final: 25 teams presented to technocrats and investors during the fest.
